The simulated transaction is the auction and sale of a privately-held company in the single-cup coffee brewing industry. This edition will examine the tax issues embedded in the technology of (1) sales suppression -- Zappers, Phantomware, SSaaS, and the Dark Cloud; (2) Missing Trader frauds -- notably frauds in CO2 permits, VOIP; and (3) excise tax avoidance -- notably frauds involved in cigarette smuggling and legalized marijuana.
